This costume is a lavish 1897 Antique Lace Gown. Perfect for Sunday strolls in the park, this authentic reproduction features fine crochet detailing for an Irish crochet effect.

The fabulous gown is a masterpiece of layered lace designs. The lower bodice and hips are worked in bubbly lace scallops. The skirt is of fine crochet mesh edged in beautiful swirling appliques and medaillions at the hem. The same lace appliques border the hips. The skirt falls 2" below 11 1/2" fashion doll´s feet for added display elegance.

The bodice is draped with an applique at the back and doubled applique at the chest. Although puff sleeves were no longer the height of fashion in 1897, many ladies wore fittted sleeves with a puffy frill at the shoulder. Our sleeves is made of alternating rows of fancy stitches with a lace mesh acp frill edged with an applique.

The magnificent old fashioned hat is worked in lovely lace mesh with a shimmering satin lining and applique edging. A gentle froth of fine lace and feathers adorns the back.

In one hand she carries a tiny crochet bordered handkerchief. Her other hand holds an extravagant lace parasol.

The costume is worked entirely from bedspread weight crochet cotton and pearl cotton for appllique trim.
