Except for the Jane Austin period, the female figure was rarely clothed as smoothly and naturally as in the mid 1870´s. Dresses of that time were form fitting from shoulder to knee with all of the fullness and fussiness condensed at the hem.

Known as a `curasse´, our natural form fitting jacket is cleverly designed in a summery peach and white stripe. A row of miniature buttons and buttonhole loops close at the front. The hem of the jacket is wrapped in a beautiffully beribboned scarf edged in a row of tiny tassels. A huge ribbon carnation gives a low bustle effect at the derriere.

The underskirt is created in a cascade of lavish crochet lace layers that trail elegantly at the back. Beatiful bubble stitches, scallops and chevrons in alternating textures create a rich effect.

The hair is adorned with a frivolous French chapeau of chevron stitches with frills and plumes and geometric design trims. She holds in her hand a huge lace parasol.
